Abstract

This paper aims to critically comment on the popular narrative of the Great Recession in the Spanish state. From the theoretical-interpretative framework of feminist cultural studies and feminist economics, three key tropes of this narrative in/crisis are identified and analysed: the privatisation of guilt, the promise of a better future in the face of the normalization of precariousness, and the characterisation of the crisis as a “mancession”.
