Abstract

The intention of this article is to analyze the evolution of the public image of María Teresa León throughout three phases: a first marked by her active and influential presence during the Second Republic and the Civil War; a second determined by silence and ostracism, which begins with exile and reaches until the Transition; and a third of recovery, driven by studies from the gender perspective and the search for models and references. The methodology followed is based both on the iconographic review and the analysis of the sources, periodical press and public and private photographic funds, as well as on studying the bibliographic repercussion of it.
